If you are driving along and suddenly a horse and buggy pulls out right in front of you, lay down across the passenger seat and aim for the horse.

You would already know this if you took driver's ed in Amish country.

A friend who was in the harness racing game once told me the Amish bought "retired" harness racers to pull their buggies. If in the situation you describe I would try to imagine that the nag was one I had once lost money on :-).
