NaBloPoMo 2020 Day 2: Things Tom Said He Saw While Running the NYC Virtual Marathon Saturday

Tom's Virtual Marathon Route


  • A guy dressed up like Forrest Gump in his runner outfit -- how he looked at the end of the scene when he stops and says he's going home. The guy had a long brown beard, 70s shorts and the hat.
    (editor's note: I saw this guy too. He really got around. Or there was more than one of him!)

  • A guy snapping on his goggles to go for a swim in the Hudson. It was 48 degrees!
  • A guy in the middle of the Hudson on a paddle board in rough water. Big boats going by, New Jersey looming in the distance.
  • Hundreds of "virtual" racers with their homemade race numbers on. Everybody cheering each other.
